Hot

We are sweltering today. Which accounts for the photo of me and the poor kitty, because sweltering or not, we're doing it in March. If you mix in the still blooming wisteria and the last traces of jasmine, it's just the sort of day that seems to make it very clear to us that labor is not what we were supposed to do.

It might be because I'm drunk on the heat. To the right is my sketch of the day - which is exactly how I felt whenever I ventured outside. I ventured out a lot.

Only after taking refuge in the cool shadows of this old house did anything start feeling romantic.

You KNOW there's a lesson in there, but it's too hot to poke around and find it.

Booda, you are so pretty.
You haven't taken your xmas tree down yet, have you?

p.s. I know what you mean about the heat. Even up here it was HOT--I wore my down jacket unzipped on the beach this evening.

Jasmine, Wisteria and Julep reads like a Fitzgerald afternoon. Jasmine, Wisteria and 'shine jugs smacks of Faulkner.
Wiping a sweaty brow on the cat screams "Booda Baby it's hot outside."

Linda: Reluctantly, I put that tree away but now I'm glad because a Christmas tree, sagging and sighing under the heat, is Southern Gothic gone bad. The glittery stuff goes away, the lights can NOT be turned on and it all turns dusty and curdled. No one wants their Christmas tree dusty and curdled, do they? Ha.

Oh Linda, Linda! I'd heard it was beautiful up there. The down jacket bit kind of ruins the picture of you all toasty. :):)

Jotsalot: No one felt like smacking anything by cocktail hour, so Faulkner's just as good as anyone. What does it take to read like Dr. Seuss? It felt more like that.

Mom: See how that weather works? You mention cold and damp and - voila! That's exactly what we ended up with. Now I'M jealous of our hot weather! :)

Mimi'sDad: Ooh, we were ALL such kitty cats that day! Now, of course, it's a distant memory. I'm thinking I was very clever to take a picture to remember it by.

Oh, but I am so jealous of your heat. It is just starting to warm up here, but it is so sporadic and teasing.
